… to our planetIt’s not enough these days to make a good product for profit. And greenwashing isn’t cool either. If we’re destroying the environment we’re avoiding the true cost of production. We’re going to be transparent with our customers and let you know what we’re doing well and what we’re trying to improve.We’re happy to be working with a packaging company which provides us with 100% plantable boxes. The box is made of all recycled material, with embedded wildflower seeds and eco-friendly ink. Cool hey? (: We’re working out a bottle return service for our product, with an idea to offer a rebate to clients who return their bottle, but there are some concerns like, does the shipping back and forth offset the benefit of recycling the small glass? Until we figure this out, we suggest to upcycle the bottles creatively – and would love it if you would share with us your imaginative upcycle ideas to share with the wider community.Also, dark glass offers the best protection and handling properties for our oils.We have selected our suppliers for their dedication to minimizing environmental impact and protecting workers rights.
… to our ingredients/product Our oils are ethically sourced, vegan friendly, and nothing of animal or synthetic origin. Maeterna is made for humans, so we test on humans exclusively. Our oil is certified 95% organic which qualifies us to legitimately use the term organic face oil- the rest is from all natural sources.
…Our initiative is designed to be a platform providing employment opportunities to London’s immigrant mothers. We oversee and process the oils ourselves, but whenever possible we hire womxn and womxn of colour. Our enterprise can be an actor of social change and we’re happy to do so.
