I was first introduced to this oil long before it was called Maeterna; nearly 6 years ago. Still in its genesis, it was already the most elixir-like product I had in my skincare regime. I recall being delighted with its quality; illuminating my skin, leaving it soft, hydrated and glowing without the stick or shine I have experienced with other oils. Since its inception, the siblings behind the green bottle of miracle continued to perfect it, giving their time, patience and wisdom to refining the product. During this time, my skin underwent fluctuations due to hormonal imbalance, leaving me with cystic acne and scarring on top of combination skin that hates drying agents – a constant jousting match of dry the acne, moisturize the surrounding skin. I spent countless hours reading, watching, and visiting skincare specialists to identify how I could learn to care for my skin. After using this product for a little over a month now, I can safely say that I’ve noticed a significant improvement not only in how my skin looks but also especially in how it feels. I shave regularly and am prone to get dry skin (and lots of ingrowns). So I used a bunch of hydrating aftershave creams with varying degrees of success from one type/brand to another. So far, none of these creams have given me the long lasting relief from dry skin that this oil has giving me. A few drop of maeterna every day, after a good post-shave exfoliant is the best formula I’ve come across so far for facial skin care.

Okay have had this product for a week and am so surprised at what a difference it’s made already! I’ve been using in the morning in place of jojoba oil and I LOVE it. It smells amazing, soaks in quickly unlike most face oils I’ve tried so it’s easy to put sunscreen on top, my skin is so much softer, and my pores are smaller. I had a pretty clean and comprehensive skincare routine beforehand so I wasn’t expecting such a dramatic difference but it’s really incredible. This face oil is about to be a permanent part of my routine.
On top of that, I love the mission of the company and what they are working towards. With the plantable packaging, support of artists, redefining gendered self-care, and goal of employing migrant women maeterna is truly holistic in all senses.
