Maeterna is owned by siblings who’ve suffered from skin care problems since childhood. From cystic acne to atopic dermatitis we’ve gone through hundreds of creams, oils, and ointments trying to remedy our condition.

We begun the journey to healing ourselves by going back to our roots. We collected time tested plant remedies from our friends and family.  While we found that there is no single cure, there were many botanical oils from traditional plants which could moisturize and balance our skin without inflaming it or causing breakouts. The new problem was that outside of knowing the farmers, many of these ingredients were hard to source and were expensive to buy as a consumer.

We sorted our research of the most nutritive and healing oils, then found our own organic growers/suppliers to begin small batches for ourselves and our friends and family. After years of refinement, user feedback and shelf testing we’ve decided to make the oil available to the public because we think it’s important to have accessible skin care across the gender and colour spectrum.
